dinette table

The dining table in the dining room asks to be lit wonderfully. Expose a milky glass tabletop or a characteristic wooden composition that adorns the dining space. Emphasize the qualities of the dishes served, increasing the appetite and making the created atmosphere encourage to common feasts. How to illuminate the dining room table in order to blend in with the already applied arrangement and achieve the above mentioned effects?

Traditional hanging lamp, but in a modern design

The simplest solution is a hanging lamp. Traditional, because the classics among kitchen lighting are lamps hanging on the ceiling. However, before we choose how many light points it will offer, what design and details will attract attention, we need to consider the functions of the dining room. You think it's obvious? Theoretically, yes, because finally here we should eat meals with our loved ones. But do we do it every day, during breakfasts, dinners and lunches, spending time with our families, or does the dining table serve as an occasion? Or maybe it is a place for snacks, decorations, when a bigger party is being prepared?

The table in the dining room, which fulfils its basic functions and allows everyone to eat meals in a relaxed atmosphere, needs a clear beam of light. Clearly, it does not mean not to look at the transparency of the lampshades or to decide on the number of light points. After all, the light can't hurt. It is to expose, emphasize the mood, provide full comfort.

Above the long table, lamps with several light points are suitable, ensuring uniform illumination of the entire space. If the table is at least 1 meter long, such lamps can be hung at a height of 60-90 cm above the table top. At this height, the lamp shade is a must. It should be opaque and closed so as not to hurt the eyes.

The hanging lamp, although traditional due to its construction, can successfully fit into the most sophisticated, contemporary arrangements. Shielded cable, which in color and material used creates a uniform composition, together with metallic gloss. Aesthetically, elegantly and yet very modern.

Small rectangular dining room and small table

In a tiny dining room, where the table is able to provide comfort of eating meals for no more than 2-3 people, just one light point is enough. Often it is the main lighting used on the ceiling. A flat plafond that evenly disperses the light beam, thus providing a well lit whole dining room, but does not take up such an important space, is a good choice.

Above a table that cannot count on an additional ceiling light point, it can be too dark or even unpleasant. For this reason, it is worth finding a place on the surrounding furniture, such as a corner kitchen cupboard, an ordinary table lamp, but with light directed towards the table.

An interesting alternative is floor lamps with two lighting points. One directed upwards, additionally optically raising the room and giving the feeling that the dining room is more spacious, and the other placed on a flexible arm, directed towards the table.

Functional and aesthetic

In order for the light in the dining room to perform its function, it must not dazzle, dazzle or bounce off smooth, glossy surfaces. Besides, its aesthetics should not be left behind, because although comfort is very important, the climate and harmonious arrangement determine how we feel in the dining room interior.
