child's room

When planning the furnishing of a room for a child, we should bear in mind that there must be a place for learning. However, how to provide the best conditions for the child to do his homework?

How to arrange furniture?

The most important piece of furniture in a student's room becomes a desk, so it is best to place it in a place that can guarantee us access to natural light. Light falling from behind should be avoided in a special way, because it has a tendency to reflect from the screen. Also the front light is not very beneficial, because it turns out that it tires the eyesight. If the student's room is in the attic and the desk is to be at a slant, do not forget the appropriate parameters. In this context, the height of the knee wall comes to the fore, as it should be 75 centimetres so as not to hamper access to the desk. The depth of the desk is about 90 centimetres and its width is at least 120 centimetres.

The height of the desk also has a big influence on the child's comfort. This is most often assessed on the basis of the angle between the arm and the forearm of the user, and the right angle is ideal. Children grow quickly, so a height-adjustable desk can be a hit. It is also worth considering a solution that creates the possibility of self-adjusting the angle of inclination of the top. Of course, a desk also requires an ergonomic chair. It is worth noting that the lumbar support of the spine and the legs resting on the ground make it easier to maintain a proper posture.

Place for learning

How to light up your learning space

When planning the lighting of the learning area, you should first pay attention to the general lighting. Most often it is a ceiling lamp placed in the central point, but an alternative to it can be movable reflectors on the rail. If you are looking for a desk lamp, choose one that has a movable arm and a head, it will allow your child to use it regardless of the circumstances. Its setting should prevent the writing hand from casting a shadow on the text. It also does not hurt to think of an additional light source. These should be placed at the bedside so that it is possible to read them before bedtime. In this case, the best solution is to use a wall lamp or a standing lamp with an adjustable lamp shade and a falling beam of light.

For the sake of order

Children and tidiness rarely remain in alliance, but if we properly design spaces for storing clothes, books and toys, tidying up will become easier. An interesting solution in this context seems to be, among others, modular cabinets expanded according to the growing needs of the student. It is also worth betting on sliding doors, as they take up less space than doors opened in the classic way. It should also be remembered that when a student goes to school he or she does not cease to be a child. Therefore, it cannot be deprived of space for play and movement.
