The pond

Water in the garden is an increasingly fashionable trend, which is characterized by the fact that it triggers positive emotions in us. This is an important element of nature, but its decorative qualities are beyond question. So you should think of both the pond and the garden cascade. Many people dreaming of a garden admit that there must be water in it.

It is an attractive decorative element that can have a positive effect on the microclimate. It should not be forgotten that the air enriched with water vapour favours better development of plants and at the same time makes it easier for us to breathe. Also the daily temperature fluctuations are reduced by the water, which can be appreciated especially in cities. It is therefore not surprising that we are happy to stay where the water reservoirs are. Water is also one of the undeniable attractions we can encounter in the garden and it does not matter whether it takes the form of a stream or a cascade.

When water flows and splashes, there is movement and dynamics. On the other hand, a standing surface with a light wave appearing only from time to time symbolizes gentleness and tranquillity. Water not only influences our moods, but also brings with it life, which makes it important not only for people. From the moment of introducing it to the garden it does not need to pass much time, but already birds and insects appear in it. Thanks to this, the garden itself takes on a new dimension, and contact with its new residents is an attraction not only for the youngest. What is important, it does not matter whether you decide to have a stream, a spring, a pond, a fountain or a small pond when arranging a garden. Each of these elements effectively attracts the attention of users and is an important composition point in the garden. Among the factors that have the greatest influence on our decision, the size of the garden is mentioned above all, but it is also important what architecture is adjacent to it.

Pond and pond

The pond is a large water reservoir. It often occurs naturally, but nothing stands in the way of artificially creating it. In this case, special attention is paid to sealing the bottom and planting it with suitable plants, because such activities result in a solution that is significantly similar to its natural counterpart. Recently, there have also been bathing ponds in gardens with a deeper part for swimming and a shallower part that acts as a filter. An alternative to the pond for people with a much smaller space seems to be the pond. It is a small artificial tank planted with plants. The ponds can also be increasingly architectural in size with geometric shapes and distinctive edges.

The water that's vibrant with life

If we are not in favour of stagnation, we should think about the value of the stream, i.e. water that flows through a natural or artificial channel. The construction of an artificial trough is not an exaggerated activity, although one should not forget about the necessity of its sealing with the use of foil, clay or prefabricated fittings made of polyethylene. An artificial stream usually flows in a closed circuit starting with a source or cascade and then falling into a pond. Of course, the trough itself should be at least 40 centimetres wide if the stream is to be really effective. A much less logistically complicated solution is a fountain, and yet this element of small architecture can introduce dynamics and movement into the garden. The fountain usually lifts and splashes water, but there is nothing to prevent it from forming a dome or whip. The water drops from the fountain are an excellent air humidifier, and if the fountain is in a pond, it provides an additional supply of oxygen.

An interesting solution is to place the nozzle outlet just above the surface of the pond. You can then get the impression that the water is gushing directly from its depths. The fountain installation can also be placed in a special bowl or sculpture. Another solution that is worth taking an interest in is the wall spring, often described as an alternative to the fountain. It is also a solution that we can use even if our garden is not impressive in size. Wall spring is a decorative plate equipped with both a bowl and an element from which water escapes. Such a structure is built into the wall of the building. There is nothing to prevent the use of tap water for this purpose, although there is also the possibility of creating such a system in a closed loop.

Another solution that is very popular in gardens is a cascade made of stones, logs, bricks or metal elements. Its hallmarks are primarily the degrees known as faults. At the top of the cascade, a spring is formed. The water that flows from it can supply the pond, but often also gives rise to the garden stream.
